Sales and Account Management Opportunity – Construction – Trades – DIY – Self Build

Metex, a renowned manufacturer and distributor of products for the construction, building, trades, and DIY & self-build sectors, is looking for a sales agent to acquire new customers and manage and sell to existing accounts within a 75 mile radius of Swindon, Wiltshire.
Commission paid on new sales, repeat sales to new customers, and sales to agreed existing accounts.
Sizeable range of innovative products for sales agents to present to the large target market.

Metex Products

Metex are a manufacturing and distribution business within the construction industry developing innovative tools and equipment for use by ‘the trades’ and DIY & self-builders markets.

Our current range holds 38 SKUs, 75% of which are our own design and manufacture.

As a sales agent you will have a continually growing range to present to both new and existing customers.

Working with manufacturers both in the UK and overseas, we aim to provide products that are not only highly competitive but use quality materials that have been rigorously tested in ‘live’ construction situations before market release. The sales agent can have confidence in the quality and reliability of the products they are selling.

Through ongoing evaluation of construction market sectors, Metex aim to expand their portfolio of construction related products by either enhancing existing products and offering a better user experience or by developing new products that we strongly believe will benefit the construction industry.

Target Markets

The target markets for new and existing customers are outlets selling to professionals in the construction industry and related trades, and the self-build & DIY market.

We are looking for a sales agent to cover an area within a 75 mile radius of our Swindon sales office, which includes the following major towns:

  • Newbury, Reading, Slough, & Basingstoke
  • Bath, Bristol & Cardiff
  • Southampton & Portsmouth
  • Oxford & Bucks
  • Birmingham

We reach our varied markets through reputable retailers including: Screwfix & Ironmongery Direct, and sell directly into some of the largest names in the screed & concrete market. namely Tarmac, Breedon, Cemex & Aggregate Industries.


Sales Agent Profile

The ideal sales agent should be able to convey a good technical understanding of the features of our products and their operation and benefit to the user.

We are looking for a professional who is smart in appearance, dynamic, systematic and detailed in their approach when presenting to customers and will help to build the Metex brand.

Must have the skill to communicate effectively with buyers at all levels within the target markets.

The agent will provide a Metex format, detailed weekly sales report, feedback on the market, and updates on sales activity and planning when requested.

Attendance at occasional trade events is required, which will be funded by the company and will benefit the sales agent’s pipeline.

Tools and Support for the Sales Agent

  • POS & product literature for the product range.
  • Product samples will be provided dependent upon opportunity.
  • Breakfast mornings and training will be provided expected at our cost.


Sales Agent Responsibilities

For the Corefix products:

Responsible for sales generation and account management within specialist fixings distributors, independent builders merchants, and AV material suppliers.

Drainage Products:

Sales generation and account management within independent builders merchants and specialist drainage merchants.

Screed & Concrete Products:

Sales generation & account management with £20 million T/O groundworks contractors.

Sales Renumeration Commission Scheme

The sales agent commission scheme will give the opportunity to earn a significant income from first sales to new customers, repeat sales to new customers, and ongoing sales to our existing accounts that the sales agent is managing.

The commission scheme:

  • 12.5% commission on any NET sales value on sales to any newly secured accounts.
  • 12.5% commission on any NET sales for repeat business from any new account.
  • 8% commission on any NET sales value for sales to any existing accounts where account management by the agent has been agreed.

The Metex pricing structure is to be followed unless changes are authorised by the company directors.

Sale and commission is to be logged on the date the order is received.

All new trade accounts are subject to normal credit checks after credit account form completion. Directors discretion is final, and commission will be paid one month in arrears.
