EXBO provides several online tools to the conference and tradeshow industry.
We are based in South Africa, and have been in the business for 18 years.
Our software is therefore tried and tested, and has been enjoyed by many 1000s of users.
We are looking to expand our footprint in the UK.
The product you’d be selling is an online “abstract management” system for academic conferences.
The system enables online peer review of abstracts submitted for presentation at the conference.
There is an add-on product (an electronic poster system) that you could also promote.
Our product is sold per use, and is very well priced compared to competitors.
In addition, if the customer prefers, we can administer and run the whole abstract submission process on their behalf.
(this is a service not easily found elsewhere and a strong selling point to overworked and understaffed event organisers)
We have many years of experience providing online tools to the conference industry. Over time we've employed full-time, half-day and contract staff.
Event organisers work on many conferences per year. Once they have taken the plunge and used our system, they almost always stay with us. We'd offer you commission on all further sales to that customer.
Getting the first sale is the hard work. Thereafter, you need do little to nothing - it's EXBO's job to service them and keep them coming back. So we'd pay you a much higher commission for the first sale to a customer, but still pay you something each time they come back.
We have marketing material, info documents, marketing videos, and more. We will happily spend as many hours as you need, getting you up to speed.
Work when you want, where you want. No micro-managing from us! You will probably have to visit potential customers at least once, to establish a rapport. So you will need to be well-dressed and charming on those occasions :) Other than that, we'd like a short monthly report on who you've approached and where you are in the sales cycle.
Our target market is academic/association conference organisers.
These are often called PCOs.
They tend to specialise in this sort of conference, and typically don’t cross-pollinate by organising corporate/social conferences and product launches.
Typically they are small companies of 5-10 people with additional contract staff.
